Covid Policy

We strongly recommend that attendees be vaccinated up to the allowed level, but we will not check vaccination status.

If you have recently tested positive for covid, following CDC guidelines you may attend if you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving and either (a) the initial positive test was 5-10 days ago and you will wear a mask throughout the conference or (b) the initial positive test was 10 or more days ago. MDJS requests that all participants who have any potential covid symptoms or have recently been exposed to anyone with covid get tested prior to attending the conference.

Free high-quality masks will be available at the registration desk.

Mamuer Beta Harami Fund

J. Frank Yates, a much-loved member of the MDJS community, passed away November 19, 2020. The society is endowing a student travel award in Frank’s honor. The travel fund will support underrepresented minorities as they attend the MDJS conference. The goal is to raise enough money to support several awards per year. The society has received initial seed funds. We are grateful for your contribution to this fund in Frank’s memory. Please donate here.

The MDJS J. Frank Yates Memorial Scholarship is administered by the society's Diversity and Inclusion committee. It was established to honor Professor J. Frank Yates, who was dedicated to broadening perspectives in the judgment and decision-making field. The travel fund helps support underrepresented students attending the MDJS conference.

All students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the sciences (as defined by NIH or NSF ) are eligible, as long as they reside at least 50 miles away from the conference location. However, MDJS will prioritize those who are 1) presenting at the conference or 2) attending the conference for the first time. The 2024 deadline has passed. Applications are released in early fall each year.

"Underrepresented" includes, for example, women, people with disabilities, Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, American Indians or Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, and those whose parents’ highest degree was high school or lower.
